ABOUT ME

Many moons ago my journey began in the small town of Boulder Creek, California, about twelve miles from Santa Cruz. I grew up among the redwood trees and near the ocean. In 1993, I graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School and headed to Humboldt State University for college.

I entered HSU with all the intentions of going into engineering but that didn't last too long. I quickly realized I had many more interests and those interests lead me to study English, Spanish, and Native American Studies.  I combined all of these interests into an Interdisciplinary Studies degree.

In addition to studying at HSU, I spent a semester abroad in Colima, Mexico.  Without a doubt it was one of the best experiences of my life. I lived with an incredibly loving and welcoming family and forged many strong relationships that I still maintain to this day.  My time living in a different culture had a tremendous influence on my life and how I perceive the world around me.

After I graduated with my Bachelor's degree from HSU I spent one more year getting my teaching credential in English.  With the education world ahead of me I embarked on my next journey to Colorado.

In 2000 I took a job teaching Spanish at Cresthill Middle School and in 2001 I accepted a job teaching English at Mountain Ridge Middle School where I taught for two years (while it was housed downstairs at Mountain Vista).  While at MRMS I taught with my future mother-in-law who introduced me to her daughter, Alex.  In 2003 I moved up to the high school where I have been teaching English and Literature of Film. I have also dabbled in teaching Spanish and Guitar.

In 2007 Alex and I got married and started our life together. Since then we have had two wonderful children, Bodhi and Maya.  We live in Highlands Ranch and look forward to raising our children here.  Someday in the near future they will both be Golden Eagles!
